Reg Arnold - Cycling Victoria History and Heritage Podcast

June 19, 2014

A household name on the Continent in the fifties after fellow New South Welshman Alf Strom and Reg Arnold established themselves as arguably the world’s most successful six-day pair. Later the much sought-after six-day partner of Terruzzi and Tresidder. Originally left for Europe in the late forties after participating in a NSW breakaway movement and found the stigma still attached in 1953 when he returned to race in Australia for a year.  Proved, to the astonishment of many, almost as brilliant as a road rider. A member of the notorious ‘Malvern Star team’ (Hec Sutherland, Eddie Smith, Peter Anthony).  In 1954 won the inaugural Mercury Tour of Tasmania, and impressed in the Tour of the West, Sun Tour, and ‘Warrnambool’.
